On Saturday, November 21, 2015, 23 Clerk of Court staff members participated in Maricopa County’s 16th National Adoption Day (NAD) event where a total of 280 children were adopted. National Adoption Day is a national day to celebrate adoptive families and an opportunity for courts to open their doors and finalize the adoptions of children.

The Clerk’s staff who participated in the annual event held at the Durango Juvenile Court Center were: Filing Counter – Allison Brown, Carmen Camacho and Andrea Rodriguez; Courtroom Clerks – Robert Jordan, Erica d’Entremont, Dawn Wood, Veronica Castillo, Rosalie Cabrera-Razo, Errol Berman, Jill Duce, Michael Lane, Jennifer Herman, Samuel Gomez, LaVerne Willkomm, Rocio Mendivil, Giovanna Salazar, Maday Raygoza, Sonja Draper, and Tammie Martin; and Managers and Supervisors – Valerie Clark, Rachel Robles and Connie Pitts. Supervisor Jenny Black assisted in advance of the event and clerk Patricia Rolling covered the detained calendar at the Juvenile Court Center, Southeast Facility.

Juvenile Clerk of Court Administrator Debora Wells-Guevara also participated in the day’s events. “This was a special day for everyone working in the Juvenile Court environment,” said Wells-Guevara. I am particularly proud of the juvenile clerks who came in and did a wonderful job representing our office by providing the highest level of service. Thank you all!”
Presiding Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Janet Barton was also happy with the day’s outcome. “It is truly a special day. So to everyone who worked so hard to make this day such a success, THANK YOU VERY MUCH….this includes the judges, commissioners and court staff who volunteered and staffed the courtrooms,” said Barton. “I also want to thank Michael Jeanes (Clerk of the Court – Superior Court of Arizona, Maricopa County) who made sure that all of the courtrooms had courtroom clerks.”

Maricopa County Superior Court’s Jennifer Murray, coordinator of the event, was equally proud of the collaboration at the event. “Juvenile Court Administration sincerely appreciates the support of the Clerk’s Office in achieving yet another successful National Adoption Day,” said Murray. “From the filing counter to the courtroom to management, everyone from the Clerk’s Office provided quality assistance with a big smile on this amazing day.”
